Poor American Vogue is getting a double dose of new competition. Last week, VogueParis announced plans to publish an English version of the magazine (their exact Twitter words were “France gave the US the Statue of Liberty, now we are taking Vogue.fr to the wider world . . . get ready for #VogueParisinEnglish”). This week Carine Roitfeld, the woman who made the English-speaking world apired to read Vogue Paris, divulged quite a number of details about her new magazine to WWD. Roitfeld’s ‘zine will be titled CR, with offices in The Standard Hotel (the one on the Bowery). The first issue is purportedly 288 pages, with 100 pages of advertising and no front-of-book section, only fashion spreads and full-length articles. Although the majority of the magazine will be written in English, contributors can and will write articles in their mother-tongue. Conde Nast is not involved with CR.
