There are not too many Fashion Industry companies seemingly interested in using Fashion illustrators these days. When one looks through a current magazine, it is all about the photo. And what that photo captures, which goes way beyond the clothes. I have seen Nordstom’s adverts in Vogue magazines where Ruben Toledo, the husband of Fashion Designer Isabel Toledo is featured in multi-page spreads. I have also seen only his talent being used as backdrops with models featured in the foreground.

Lucy Truman / Meet Fashion

Lucy Truman

MEET FASHION ILLUSTRATOR LUCY TRUMAN

Before Andy Warhol was a “pop art” painter, he drew shoes. Lots and lots of shoes. He also famously said, “we will all be world famous for 15 minutes” (or at least, he’s purported to): a prediction that has eerily enough become almost true. Fashion illustrator Lucy Truman(@lucytruman_illustration) shares how she got her start, and about the people who have inspired her along the way.

Celebrities at the ‘Ink’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

A SOFTER SIDE

There was a time when a Celine red carpet dress was almost guaranteed to be covered in sequins, but Michael Rider has shifted the focus towards understated tailoring, as we’ve seen on Charlize Theron and now Maggie Gyllenhaal.

What saves this for me is the draping across the neckline and the fact that it feels right for her role as jury president. It has enough interest for a premiere without trying to compete with the evening’s more dramatic gowns.

Rooney Mara / White is her other neutral

WHITE IS HER OTHER NEUTRAL

Rooney Mara has long leaned towards sustainable labels, so seeing her in Stella McCartney Spring 2026 feels like a natural choice.

And if you’re surprised to see Rooney in white, don’t be. When she opts out of black, white is usually her next move. The clean lines and asymmetric draping are firmly within her minimalist wheelhouse, while the cut-out detail gives the look enough interest for a Venice photocall.

I’m expecting a return to black for this evening’s premiere, most likely Givenchy, but for daytime duties, this feels exactly right.

‘Proust is the godfather of fashion’ / What writers’ clothes reveal about them

‘Proust is the godfather of fashion’: what writers’ clothes reveal about them

The title reads like a provocation: Legendary Authors and the Clothes They Wore. What? Shouldn’t authors, especially “legendary” ones, be exempt from fashion scrutiny? Surely we should look at their words, not their outfits. If they produced great works of art, who cares how they dressed?

The art of being ornamental

The Ladies Waldegrave is a group portrait painted by Joshua Reynolds between 1780 and 1781, now housed in the Scottish National Gallery, which acquired the painting in 1952. The work depicts the three daughters of James Waldegrave, 2nd Earl Waldegrave, and Maria Walpole. Rococo fashion, hyper-femininity, and the politics of spectacle in 18th-century aristocratic culture

Mariana Carrera Díaz de Ita
30 de July 2026

The Rococo period of the early to mid-18th century represents one of the most visually extravagant moments in Western fashion history. Emerging in France during the reign of Louis XV, Rococo aesthetics celebrated lightness, sensuality, artifice, and ornamental excess. Pastel silks, cascading ribbons, lace flounces, and architectural silhouettes transformed women into living embodiments of refinement and spectacle. Yet beneath this softness lay a complex system of power, performance, and social hierarchy. Rococo fashion was not merely about beauty—it was about visibility.

Dressing the woman within

Dressing the woman within

Reclaiming sensuality and sexiness in style and self

Virginie Tolly
22 October 2025

Having worked with many women over the years in fashion styling, I’ve noticed something striking. Most shy away from the word “sexy.” They say they prefer to be seen as “feminine,” “elegant,” or sometimes “sensual,” but almost never sexy. And yet, aren’t these just different expressions of the same experience? Different tones of the same music? It’s like a volume dial turning up from feminine to sensual to sexy. In truth, the word “sexy” doesn’t really exist on its own. It’s not something separate from us, a label we choose to wear or reject. It’s part of the much broader, richer experience of being a woman. When we resist the word, we’re often not rejecting our own sensuality; we’re rejecting what society has made the word mean. Because the problem isn’t the feeling, it’s the social consequences of embracing it.

A reflection on men, style, and identity crisis

More than ever, men seem to have lost their connection with style. That quiet but powerful language that once said everything before a man ever spoke.

Using style as a grounding and intentional practice for 2026

What does Chinese New Year have to do with style or fashion, apart from selling endless tons of decorative merchandising products in retail? What if there were a more meaningful correlation between the two? What if the way you dress in 2026 could influence how you move through your year, your decisions, your presence, your being, and even your state of mind?

Social media's impact on fashion trends

The redefining of consumption and culture through digital platforms

23 FEBRUARY 2025,

With the fast expansion of social media, fashion has transformed into an agile, dynamic world where trends emerge and dissipate within days. The popularisation of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest has not only changed how fashion is consumed but also accelerated its cycle, creating a growing demand for innovation and adaptability among brands. Today, social media is essential for companies of all sizes, which need to stay aware of changes to remain competitive in an extremely visual and ephemeral market. This new landscape reveals a fresh era in fashion, where the cycle of trends is constantly renewed, and immediacy sets the pace for consumption, challenging the traditional seasonal collection model.

The return of Victoria’s Secret

Between nostalgia and the need for reinvention

23 APRIL 2025,

In 2024, Victoria’s Secret took a bold step in attempting to reclaim its prominence in fashion by relaunching its iconic lingerie show, which had been suspended since 2018. The hiatus was a response to intense criticism of the brand, accused of perpetuating an exclusionary and outdated beauty standard while the market and audience demanded diversity, inclusion, and authenticity. The return was surrounded by expectations and controversies but also raised questions about how much the company had truly evolved.
