Character Actor James Rebhorn Dies at 65

The seven-time Broadway veteran died after a 22-year battle with cancer.

James Rebhorn appeared in seven Broadway productions throughout his extensive film, television, and stage career.
Broadway veteran and noted character actor of film and television James Rebhorn died on March 21 at his home in South Orange, New Jersey, after a long battle with melanoma, with which he was diagnosed in 1992. He was 65.
Rebhorn made his Broadway debut in 1979 in a production of Eric Bentley's Are You Now or Have You Ever Been. He went on to appear in six more Broadway productions throughout his career, including I'm Not RappaportOur TownThe Man Who Had All the LuckDinner at EightTwelve Angry Men, and most recently, the 2007 revival of Prelude to a Kiss. Rebhorn had a long-standing relationship with Roundabout Theatre Company, appearing in a number of its productions, including his recent off-Broadway performance in the Roundabout Underground production of Meghan Kennedy's Too Much, Too Much, Too Many in the fall of 2013.

He is also well known for his numerous television roles including the character of Bradley Raines on the popular soap opera Guiding Light (1983-85), Henry Lange on the sister soap opera As the World Turns (1988-91), and a recurring role on NBC's Law & Order. His most recent television appearances include recurring roles on the USA series White Collar as Special Agent Reese Hughes and on the popular Showtime series Homeland as father of protagonist Carrie Mathison (played by Claire Danes).
Rebhorn is survived by his wife, Rebecca Linn Rebhorn, and their two daughters, Emma and Hannah Rebhorn.
