The author of the popular 'Me Before You' has written an update on what the protagonist is doing during the lockdown we're all in.
'Me Before You' was the first book of a trilogy, following a girl, Louisa Clark as she becomes the carer of a quadriplegic man whom she slowly falls in love with.
The first book became very popular and it was even adapted into a movie which earned $208.3 million, against a budget of $20 million. The last book in the series 'Still Me', was published in January 2018. According to Penguin Random House, the trilogy sold over 21 million copies worldwide.
Though the author had said she wouldn't take the series further, the author Jojo Moyes has written a short story on what Lou Clark is doing during the pandemic. She explained, "I didn’t have any plans to revisit Lou Clark after the end of the Me Before You trilogy. But I, like many people, have struggled my way through this pandemic, and it gradually occurred to me that writing about how Lou and her family coped with lockdown would be the perfect way to bring a bit of cheer to those readers who loved her, during a tricky few months for all of us. She made me laugh and smile (and even well up a little) while I worked on this story, and I hope very much that you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it," as reported by The Bookseller.
The story was available early to those who subscribe to her newsletter and will release on the Penguin website on 3rd June 2020 for everyone else.
Jojo Moyes is not the only author who is dealing with the pandemic by escaping into an old series and exploring what her character would be doing, Meg Cabot is doing the same by making a quarentine diary to continue the Princess Diaries and long time fans are delighted to join their favorite characters in these difficult times.
